CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

 

The Olean Theatre Workshop announces classes to start Monday, September 12 at the Washington Street Theatre.  Registration is set for Friday, September 9 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM and again Saturday, September 10 between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.  For information about the Workshop classes please call 373-SHOW (7469) or visit us on the web at www.oleanworkshop.org. Class schedules are as follows.

                       

*Returning students in the High School, Middle School and Performance classes will be given preference for these classes. Other students will be admitted on a first come first serve basis when room becomes available, so please register soon. Returning students are asked to register before classes begin.  Registration can be done by mail, phone or by attending one of the registration dates.

Grades K-2 will meet on Monday from 4:00-5:00 pm. Students will develop self-expression and creativity while learning social skills and cooperation through theater games, music, and song and dance.

*Senior High School will meet on Monday from 5:00-6:30 pm. Students will expand performance skills and develop vocal and dance technique as they practice and present medleys from hit musicals. During the year they will present a major musical.

Grades 3-5 will meet on Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 or 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Students will develop self-expression and vocal clarity through music, improvisation and theatre games. They will learn to operate as an ensemble and gain self confidence.

*Middle School will meet on Wednesday from 5:00-6:30 pm. Students will learn the basic techniques of stage acting: using voice, body, and mind to pursue objectives, overcome obstacles, create characters and scenes, and work as an ensemble. They will present several medleys throughout the year.

*Performance Class will meet on Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 pm. Students will use skills learned in their other classes to create performance pieces. Students are required to be in a regular class to participate and to have had one year of classes as a prerequisite.  

 



*Please note class ranges are general and students can be moved up or down based on experience.
